Letter to the Editor of Channel-5 News
Dear Editor Channel-5 News,
I was made to understand that the Belize People’s Front (BPF) a political party in Belize with their Leader Nancy Marin, are the people who are organizing this protest in Belmopan. There is nothing in this news report that is saying that.
Permit Issued for a Peaceful Protest in Belmopan
A permit has been issued to a group of concerned Belizeans, who will assemble at the steps of the National Assembly building, to express their discontent this Friday. One of the issues is the recent murder of Adamir Choc as well as the violence and social issues plaguing the country. Earlier today, Commissioner of Police said that the group is allowed to exercise their right and the police department will be out there to ensure that the event is carried out peacefully.
Time for a Change
Time and time again since our independence in 1981, we have been consistently electing one of two political parties and yielding the same results. High poverty rate, high unemployment rate, high cost of living, inefficient governance, and the most obvious is the super-bond which we, the people and our children, are paying for the multiple corrupted contracts and poor decisions of those political parties. The super-bond’s value is over one billion dollars! Where can we find the one billion dollars’ worth of national development? Can we find it in our roads paved properly to ease the transportation of the people and resources for the benefit of our country? NO! Can we find it in the construction of the new educational facilities or improved national infrastructure? NO! Can we find it in the formation of national health care coverage for the people and the new equipment and facilities in our national hospital system? NO!
Revised Voters List
Esteemed Media Colleagues,
I would like to bring to the attention of the nation, the low level operation of the Elections & Boundaries Office, with the withholding of the Revised Voters List- Hard Copy to the Belize People’s Front Party. We had requested this from early May, before the referendum, but were told that this was not yet prepared. Again we were told it was not ready prior to the Village Council Elections. Most recent when we had to be constantly behind them for the copy of the revised voters list, and after much delay we were finally given the electronic copy. When we inquired about the hard copy, as is usual, we were told that they are not providing this service.
Sarstoon River Visit – Invitation
Esteemed Media Colleagues,
I would like to invite you all to a Press Conference to be held at the Radisson, VIP Room, at 9:00 am on Tuesday 7th May.
We will be sharing with you some relevant information as it relates to our recent Sarstoon visit and the relevance to our position on the referendum on Wednesday May 8th.
Letter to Hon. John Saldivar
Dear Mr. Saldivar,
I write to you as a concerned citizen and as the Leader of the Belize People’s Front, (a populist movement) and on behalf of the members of our party and the citizens in general.
As Belizean citizens, we have a right to traverse the length and breadth of our country. It is also symbolic that the 1859 Treaty that defined our borders is being disrespected by the Guatemalan armed forces, by denying Belizeans access to the Sarstoon River, the natural border between our countries. In this regard, I ask:
BPF New Years Message 2015
As we look forward to a new year, we must also take a time to reflect on the achievements of the past and in that light, we must take measures to ascertain that the mistakes we have made in the past, teaches us to not repeat the same in the future.
Boycott Guatemala Now! (Speech)
Good Morning! Thank you all for joining us here today. We the Belize People’s Front called this conference with the Belize Media in order to address the grave situation along our border to the west with Guatemala. For years Guatemalans have enjoyed unrestricted, illegal access to our territory in search of natural resources belonging to Belize for exploitation. This exploitation mainly of our timber and Xate leaves but also includes the panning of gold and other activities such as farming of illegal crop such as marijuana, has gone on for years and Belize has and continues to lose millions of dollars-worth of natural resources annually. It is said the Xate leaves alone contributes over a million dollars a year to the Guatemalan Economy, where 30 million fronds are harvested along the border for Palm Sunday alone.
Boycott Guatemala Now! (Article)
The Belize People’s Front is outraged not only by the killing of Safety Officer Danny Conorquie on Belizean soil by alleged Guatemalan illegal encroachers, but is equally outraged that since that brutal execution Guatemalans continue to accost Belizeans in their own land. The Government of Belize which is charged with protecting our sovereignty, integrity and our borders from illegal incursions have failed and are impotent to do anything to safeguard Belizeans from such illegal activity by Guatemalan citizens.
