BPF open letter to Hon. J. Briceño and Rt. Hon. P.M.
Dear Sirs,
As the leader of the Belize People’s Front, a legally recognized political party in Belize, I wish to express my disappointment with both parties at this time. In the case of the PUP Leader feigning outrage at the recently revealed misdoings of Hon. Saldivar that has stained the UDP with scandal yet again. Feigning is a word not lightly used after consideration. You see Mr. Opposition Leader, the very last person in Belizean politics who should scold any Government Administration would be yourself, in the name of your own disgraced party…
Dismay of UDP’s Party Leader Convention
The Belize People’s Front, through this release, share in the concerns of the voting public and the wider population at large. We are in total dismay at the insistence of the convention, held this past Sunday, February 9th 2020. Post-convention, we now face a constant revelation of names, of members of both parties, who have governed the country, as close associates with the persons under criminal investigation, currently in process in the State of Utah, United States of America.
Statement on Equal Opportunity Bill
The Belize People’s Front (BPF), after carefully reviewing this proposed Equal Opportunity Bill, cannot support this in its present form. While the Bill seeks to grant Rights to ‘’Protected Groups’’ it takes away the fundamental rights of the common citizens. There is just too much leeway in how this proposed Bill would be interpreted and violates the rights of accused citizens to defend themselves with the assistance of an attorney. (#79 5-6)
Statement on Belize Karst Habitat Conservation (BKHC)
Through this medium, I make categorically clear that I, Nefretery Nancy Marin, Leader of the Belize People’s Front Political Party, have no connection, in any way whatsoever with the None-Governmental Organization (NGO), Belize Karst Habitat Conservation (BKHC) for the co-management of the Tapir Mountain Reserve and or monies payed out to it for any purposes whatsoever.
BPF Comments on the Lev Matter
It is with deep regret that the Belize People’s Front learned that once again the good people of Belize are handed a black eye through the questionable dealings our ministers seem to be involved in. Today it was announced through Belize media that the Hon. John Saldivar’s name was mentioned in documents submitted as evidence in a United States of America (USA) court case involving fraud and the fleecing of American’s money by one of the ministers’ known associates.
Immigration Irregularities in Lake Independence
The Belize People’s Front (BPF) Executive and members, join all Belizeans in denouncing the blatant disregard to procedures and the rule of law; being perpetrated by Ms. Dianne Finnegan, Standard Bearer in Lake Independence Constituency, for the incumbent party. The very act of soliciting documents for processing of immigration statuses are a violation of our laws, when performed by a person who is not authorized by the Director of Immigration.
Maya People: Finally – Recognition as Equals in Development and Participation
The Country of Belize is blessed with Maya People, a direct descendant of the Ancient Maya, a society that existed long before Christ, they have established their cities in the Yucatan Peninsula, in the north, Belize and Guatemala in the central area and north of el Salvador and Honduras in the south of the Maya World. Making up a complex civilization with a population of over 30 million people that had 31 tribes, each tribe spoke their own dialect, where the kings unified every tribe into one common culture.
Women in Belize
When we mention the word “women” a lot of people from both divides wonder what about them. Many or most of our Belizean women are not gainfully employed. But being a mom, leader, housewife is a 24/7 job. There is a saying that the best economists are our women but here in our country, many are downtrodden and disrespected. So, what is the role of women in the development of Belize? As a well-known activist once said, “women are half the voting population in our democracy and as such need to be politically empowered”. Whilst the whole world has seen more women prime ministers and presidents, Belize is very far from that, but the BPF is about to change that with its 50 % women mandate.
