Revised Voters List

Esteemed Media Colleagues,

I would like to bring to the attention of the nation, the low level operation of the Elections & Boundaries Office, with the withholding of the Revised Voters List- Hard Copy to the Belize People’s Front Party. We had requested this from early May, before the referendum, but were told that this was not yet prepared. Again we were told it was not ready prior to the Village Council Elections. Most recent when we had to be constantly behind them for a copy of the revised voters list, and after much delay we were finally given the electronic copy. When we inquired about the hard copy, as is usual, we were told that they are not providing this service.

We then inquired with the opposition and they have been given both the electronic and hard copy from May. With this they have exposed themselves as being biased and unprofessional in performing their key job responsibilities.

In this era of inept performance by the very people that are entrusted with being unbiased and neutral, we demand that this very vital sector of public servants be held responsible to perform without fear or favour and that they cease and desist from doing unscrupulous works that contravenes the very Constitution that allows registered parties to this vital service.

Attached you can find that all requirements have been met to the Elections & Boundaries Commission, as per email. We ask that you kindly disseminate this information in an effort to maintain our fragile democracy.
